    Governing Body

The Governing Body of Wolston St Margaret’s CofE Primary School works collectively to ensure the school continues to deliver high-quality education, ongoing improvement, and excellent outcomes for all pupils.
Governors act as a strategic body, providing direction, oversight, and accountability, rather than being involved in the day-to-day operational management of the school.

    Operational Matters

For general school operational issues, please contact the school office in the first instance.
If you have a specific concern regarding your child’s education or class, please speak to their Class Teacher, and if necessary, the Headteacher.

    Contacting the Governing Body

If you wish to contact the Chair of Governors, please do so through the school office, who will forward your correspondence in confidence.
(Please note that governors do not become involved in individual pupil or staffing matters except through formal procedures.)

    Full Governing Body

Chair of Governors: Mr Peter Hazelgrove

The Full Governing Body (FGB) meets six times per year to consider reports, review progress, and make strategic decisions regarding the school’s development and performance. The Governing Body operates within the framework of national legislation and the local authority’s governance regulations.

The work of the Governing Body focuses on three core statutory functions:

    1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction – Governors work with the Headteacher and senior leaders to agree the school’s long-term aims and priorities, ensuring that all pupils can achieve their full potential.

    2. Holding leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils – The Governing Body monitors and evaluates the school’s performance, providing both challenge and support to the Headteacher and staff. Governors draw on their professional expertise to ensure decisions are well-informed and in the best interests of pupils.

    3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent – governors are responsible for ensuring that public funds are used effectively, efficiently, and in a way that secures value for money.

Through this strategic leadership role, the Governing Body is accountable to parents, the local authority, the Diocese, and the wider community for the overall performance and direction of the school.
