    Our Year 6 Journey

This is a special year, filled with unforgettable memories and opportunities to shine. From deepening our understanding across all subjects to developing our independence and teamwork, Oak Class is all about helping every child flourish and thrive.

    Pentre Residential – Adventure Awaits!

One of the highlights of our year is our three-day residential trip to Pentre in North Wales. Here, we take on thrilling challenges like canoeing, rock climbing, orienteering, tunnelling and bushcraft survival skills. It’s an adventure that helps us step outside our comfort zones, discover hidden strengths and grow as the wonderful humans we are!

    Police Academy

We also take part in the exciting Police Academy, led by Rugby Police and our local PCSOs. Through hands-on workshops and activities, we learn about the many roles in the police force and how to be safe, responsible citizens who make a positive difference in our community.

    Immersive Learning Experiences

History comes to life in Oak Class! Our WW2 Home Front Day transports us back in time to experience life during the war. We become code-breakers at “Bletchley Park,” practise make-do-and-mend, tend to our own wartime gardens, experience an air raid shelter and handle real-life money and rationing. These immersive days make learning meaningful and memorable!

    SATs

Our children will sit their Statutory Assessment Tests in May 2026. These will be based on spelling, punctuation and grammar, reading and maths. We offer a delicious breakfast during this important week, which allows the children to relax and start each day with a positive mindset. SATs results are sent to school in July and communicated to parents in your child’s end of year report.

    Mini Enterprise

During the Summer Term, the children have an amazing opportunity to run stalls at our PTA Fair. They conduct market research, form groups and roles and come up with their own ideas for raising funds for our school.

    The Grand Finale

As we reach the end of Year 6, we celebrate everything we’ve achieved together. Our year finishes with a daring Go Ape adventure and a fantastic end-of-year performance that showcases our confidence, creativity and teamwork. It’s the perfect way to say goodbye to primary school and hello to the next exciting chapter!

In Oak Class, we grow strong roots, stretch towards the sun and let our light shine brightly.
