Welcome to Year 4! This year promises to be full of exciting learning opportunities, hands-on experiences and fascinating discoveries across a wide range of subjects.

In mathematics, children will continue to build their fluency in timestables in preparation for the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check. Through engaging activities and regular practice, pupils will develop confidence and speed in recalling multiplication facts up to 12 × 12. Please find the attached recommendations from Times Table Rockstars below.

Our Learning Means the World curriculum takes us on a journey through time. Pupils will explore the lives and legacies of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, learning about their culture, conflicts, and contributions to Britain. Later in the year, we’ll delve into World War II, focusing on Operation Pied Piper and the experiences of evacuee children during the war. In science, children will investigate key concepts such as electricity, forces and conservation. They’ll learn how circuits work, explore the effects of gravity and friction and understand the importance of protecting our planet through sustainable practices. Our computing lessons will include an exciting unit on the history of the internet, helping children understand how digital technology has evolved and how it shapes our world today. Throughout the year, pupils will be encouraged to ask questions, think critically and work collaboratively. We aim to foster a love of learning and curiosity that will stay with them for life.
