Year 3 is a very special year as our children make the brave and exciting transition into Key Stage 2. With growing independence, curiosity and confidence, our learners are encouraged to be resilient, prepared, and willing to take risks as they embrace new challenges and experiences.
This year is packed with wonderful learning opportunities designed to inspire creativity, imagination and discovery. In our Film and Animation topic, children become budding directors as they design flipbooks and create their very own stop-motion videos. They will learn about the UK and develop their mapwork skills. Later in the year, they’ll travel further afield and explore Africa and the Rainforests, discovering diverse cultures, climates and wildlife.
They also have the opportunity to journey back in time to uncover the Story of Prehistoric Man, and later, the fascinating rivalry between Athens and Sparta. We’ll also learn about Henri Dunant, the remarkable founder of the Red Cross, and how one person’s compassion and courage can change the world.
Outside the classroom, Year 3 pupils will begin swimming lessons, where they’ll show bravery and determination as they build confidence and vital life skills in the water. They will also have the opportunity to learn the recorder, developing perseverance and teamwork as they perform together.
Year 3 is a time of exploration, creativity and growth - where every child is encouraged to be brave, resilient, prepared and a risk taker as they continue their exciting learning journey through Key Stage 2.
