In Rowan Class, we embrace all the exciting adventures that Year 1 brings! From joining the rest of the school on the big playground to attending assemblies and whole-school events, our children begin to grow as confident members of the school community.

Year 1 is also a big step in learning. Children take part in the national phonics screening check, and we ensure they’re well prepared through daily phonics and reading sessions. Our curriculum is full of imagination and discovery! We explore everything from fairy tales to dinosaurs, using the children’s interests to inspire and inform our lessons.

We continue to support learning through continuous provision, gradually building towards more structured activities at desks to prepare for Year 2. Our focus is on nurturing independence, confidence, and a love of learning. Rowan Class is a place where children feel safe, supported, and excited to grow.
